Learn about engineering from home!

We invite students in grades 5-8 to participate in this 8-week workshop where we will guide you to discover:

  • how mechanisms work to produce energy;
  • experiments on electricity;
  • the nature of circuits;
  • how this engineering applies to real life.

20 hours of distance learning workshop.

Requirements for participation

The first 125 students who meet the participation requirements will be selected and accepted free of charge.
Upon selection, they will receive their STEM Boxed Kit with working materials, instructions, and access to the program’s online sessions.

It is important to read the technical specifications before registering:

  • Each student and his/her parent or guardian must fill out the registration form.
  • Be a student of the Puerto Rico Department of Education, private school or homeschooler.
  • Be enrolled and enrolled in 5th through 8th grade.
  • Have access to internet, computer, laptop or access to a cell phone.
  • Availability to participate saturday mornings.

What type of computer do I need?

You must have technical equipment such as:

  • a computer (PC, Marc or Chromebook)

Do I need to have internet access and email?

Yes, you must have internet access to participate in the distance learning sessions. You must also have access to email.

How much time should I dedicate to it?

The course will last 8 consecutive weeks. You must attend all classes in order to obtain the certificate of participation.

How much does the course cost?

The Trust offers this workshop free of charge to those who qualify until spaces are filled. The registered student must comply with the term of the established experience so that the cost of the box is free, otherwise they must pay the total cost of the box ($150) or make the corresponding return to the facilities of the Science Trust, Technology and Research of Puerto Rico.
