1.0 Overview of the organization

The Puerto Rico Science Technology and Research is a private non-profit organization created in 2004 to encourage and promote innovation, transfer and commercialization of technology and creation of jobs in the technology sector. We are responsible for Puerto Rico’s public policy for science, technology, research and development. The Trust’s mission is to invest, facilitate and build capacity to continually advance Puerto Rico’s economy and its citizens’ well-being through innovation-driven enterprises, science and technology and its industrial base. 2.0 Job Description

Job Title: Accountant
Reports to: Finance Manager
Location / Hours: San Juan, Puerto Rico – Part -Time position
Purpose: The Accountant will contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the finance department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail. This role will utilize strong accounting knowledge, time management skills and effective problem solving to ensure success.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Among the most important activities to coordinate for the PRPHT project are:
1. Accounts Payable, includes processing invoices,
following up with vendors and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Monitor and maintain updated aging. Vendor maintenance in
QuickBooks.
  1. Accounts Receivable, including processing payments, producing statement of accounts, collections on overdue accounts and account reconciliation when required. Monitor and maintain updated aging. Customer maintenance in QuickBooks.
  2. Ensure that transactions meet internal controls as established by standard operating procedures (SOP), when applicable, or best practices.
  3. Banking, processing bank deposits, including trips to the bank. All associated finance entries.
  4. Processing Employee expense reports, verifying expenses are within the company guidelines, correcting errors, questioning abnormal expenses and entering into the finance system.
  5. Invoice creation and distribution when required.
  6. Filing and records retention
  7. Assisting with Monthly and Year End tasks
  8. Assist with Special projects as required

Qualifications & Technical Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably in Finance / Accounting)

  1. Post-Secondary degree in accounting (or equivalent work experience)
  2. 1-3 years accounting experience
  3. QuickBooks experience is a definite asset
  4. Detail oriented, ability to show initiative and take responsibility
  5. Strong MS Office skills
  6. Effective time management skills
  7. Enhanced verbal and interpersonal communications skills (Spanish/English)
  8. Effective problem-solving skills
  9. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  1. Ability to favorably represent the Company image to clients
